KTC said Mesra outlets would also benefit from a variety of existing and new products manufactured by Gardenia Bakeries
PETALING JAYA: Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) has appointed Kim Teck Cheong Consolidation Bhd (KTC) as the main distributor for both its Mesra and Mini Mesra stores in Petronas stations in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan for a period of three years.
KTC executive director Dexter Lau said the group would deliver a wide range of products to the Mesra and Mini Mesra outlets to ensure win-win results for both companies.
“The partnership between KTC and Petronas is indeed a good marriage, where both companies entered into joint value-creation.
“We have trust and confidence in taking our first step forward together, ” he said in a statement.
KTC said it would supply the majority of products, including accessories, audio visual items, biscuits, bakery products, car products, confectionary, drinks, souvenirs, groceries, health and beauty products and aids, snacks, stationery, books, household products and others to around 161 Petronas Mesra and Mini Mesra stores in Sabah and Sarawak.
In comparison to Petronas Mesra stores, 99 Speedmart and 7-Eleven have a total of 148 and 191 outlets respectively there.
Lau said its new appointment as a main distributor would also allow KTC to scale up and integrate retailing processes and systems into its operations.
“This will open up more options of expansion for KTC in an effort to further solidify the company’s sustainability and continuity in the coming years amid the global economic environment.
“KTC was given the nod owing to its robust warehousing infrastructure, information technology infrastructure, manpower support, procurement expertise, inventory management and logistics infrastructure, ” he added.
KTC said Mesra outlets would also benefit from a variety of existing and new products manufactured by Gardenia Bakeries.
