Lim Hui Kiong, 65, joined the Board of Kim Teck Cheong Consolidated Berhad as a Non-Independent Executive Director on 2 December 2014.
With over 40 years of experience in wholesale distribution, Lim Hui Kiong began his career in 1979 as a Sales Representative at Kilat Jaya. Seeking to broaden his knowledge, he pursued further education at Tresham College of Further and Higher Education, United Kingdom. In 1982, he returned to Malaysia to continue his professional journey at Diethelm (M) Sdn Bhd, which is now known as DKSH Malaysia Sdn Bhd.
In 1983, Lim Hui Kiong co-founded KTC Tawau alongside Datuk Lau Kok Sing, making significant contributions to the company’s market expansion along Sabah’s eastern coast. His work was crucial in building a robust supplier and customer network in the area. In 2013, he assumed the role of director at KTC Sarawak and has played a vital role in influencing change and promoting growth within Kim Teck Cheong’s subsidiaries since then.
Additionally, he holds several directorships, including positions at various Kim Teck Cheong subsidiaries and Gardenia Bakeries (East Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, further influencing the company’s strategy and operational excellence.
Working experience and occupation
He started his career as a Sales Representative at Kilat Jaya, a company involved in wholesale distribution. He then furthered his O-levels at Tresham College of Further and Higher Education, United Kingdom in 1979. Thereafter in 1981, he joined Diethelm (M) Sdn Bhd (subsequently known as DKSH Malaysia Sdn Bhd) as a Sales Representative in 1982. In 1983, he left Diethelm (M) Sdn Bhd and co-founded KTC Tawau with Datuk Lau. He played a key role in growing the company by focusing on providing market access and coverage of CPG products in the east coast of Sabah. He was instrumental in building up the network of suppliers and customers particularly in east coast of Sabah. In 2013, he was appointed as a director in KTC Sarawak. He has since accumulated over 41 years of experience in the wholesale distribution industry.
